However, the ecosystem in Lake Michigan is currently in danger. Scientists are are already witnessing a decline in certain species of fish, and overall oxygen levels in the lake have declined significantly. Invasive species have had a negative and dangerous effect on the Lake Michigan ecosystem, particularly the zebra and quagga mussels.
